Use and Care

For the Squeeze Filter Element: Even new elements should be flushed with two filter cycles before first use, and the water discarded. Clean filter elements only with clean water; no soap, no vinegar essence. After use, remove and allow to air dry. Use only fresh water, no water above 40 °C, not in freezing conditions.

How long does a filter element last?

The Selfpress filter element lasts for 1,500 liters, which is approximately 2,500 uses with the 500 ml Selfpress. The Squeeze filter element lasts up to 500 liters, which is the maximum value under optimal conditions.

Does it come with the bottle or the pouch?

No. This is a replacement filter element, not a complete water filter. Bottle or bag are not not included.

How long can I store a filter?

When stored optimally, the Selfpress filter element has a shelf life of at least 2 years. While the hollow fiber membrane potentially has an almost unlimited shelf life, the activated carbon filter loses some of its effectiveness over time. The filter can still be used afterwards, but reduced filter performance must be expected.

Can I use soap or vinegar for cleaning?

No. Do not use soap or vinegar essence to clean the filter element. These can cause permanent damage to the filter. Clean water is sufficient.
