Our Founding Story
Created on our own expeditions.
During our own expeditions into the wilderness, we experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to find clean drinking water.
The necessity of carrying bulky water purification systems or worrying about water quality restricted our freedom. Therefore, we decided to find a solution that would allow adventurers like us to experience nature without a care.
Together, we developed the world's first self-press water filter with hollow fiber technology. Our goal: to give people who love nature the freedom to enjoy every outdoor adventure — without having to worry about the water source.

The milestones that shaped us.
Oct 2020
This is where the idea for the Bachgold water filter first came to us. After much deliberation on the easiest way to solve the drinking water problem on the go, prototype development quickly progressed.
Nov 2022
The moment of truth. We presented a first-class product to a target group that shares our passion for outdoor adventures. The moment our very first Bachgold customer became happy — it still drives us today.
Apr 2023
We wanted to build a closer relationship with our customers — get to know you, build a community. That's much easier to do in our own online store than on Amazon.
June 2023
Due to our earlier round trip through the United States, we always had a special connection to the USA. Given the great globetrotting scene on the other side of the Atlantic, one thing led to another.
Jan 2024
We can barely believe it ourselves. For over 40 years, Transa has been the leading provider of travel and outdoor products in Switzerland — and now also carries Bachgold products.
Mar 2024
Finally. We joined the Viva con Agua network — for a non-profit project in West Nepal. Improved access to drinking water and irrigation systems for villagers and schoolchildren.
August 2024
A new family member. Our popular Selfpress water filter is now also available in the larger 800ml version. More capacity, more power – perfect for long tours.

For the first time with our own booth in the Startup Area of the ISPO Outdoor fair in Munich. Innovative brands, outdoor pioneers — and us right in the middle. An exciting milestone.

Together with Viva con Agua Switzerland, we are sending a strong signal on World Water Day 2025. As a strategic partner, we fully support the mission: Water for all.
