Two stages. One sifts, one clarifies.
You push the water through a hollow fiber membrane with a 0.2 µm pore size. Its pores are smaller than bacteria and protozoa: what's too big gets caught. Behind it, an activated carbon stage removes chlorine and taste. What remains is water that tastes like water.

Thanks to the practical all-in-one solution of the Bachgold® Outdoor Water Filter, no external hoses or cumbersome components are needed to filter the water. You get filtered water within seconds and can drink it directly from the bottle.
How long does the filter element last with regular use?
The filter capacity is 1,500 liters for both sizes. For the Selfpress 500 ml, this corresponds to approximately 2,500 application cycles before the filter element needs to be changed. Manufacturer's information according to the operating instructions.
How do I know when the filter needs to be replaced?
You can tell because the filtering process can only be carried out with significantly more effort.
How long does the filter element last when not in use?
With optimal storage, the filter element is durable for at least 2 years. While the hollow fiber membrane potentially has an almost unlimited shelf life, the activated carbon filter loses some of its effectiveness over time. The filter can still be used afterwards, but a reduced filter performance must be expected.
What do I do if water overflows while filtering?
Ensure that the water does not exceed the fill line of the outer container and that there is no air between the water and the filter element before starting the filtering process. Check that the sealing ring on the filter element is correctly seated, and ensure that the drinking spout remains open throughout the filtering process.
What materials is the Selfpress made of and where is it manufactured?
The Selfpress 500 ml is made of BPA-free plastics (PP and ABS), silicone, and silicone gel, while the Selfpress XL is made of polypropylene, which is also BPA-free. Designed and developed in Switzerland and manufactured by our partner in China.
Can I use soap or vinegar essence for cleaning?
No. Do not use soap or vinegar essence to clean the filter element. These can permanently damage the filter. Clean water is sufficient.
Which replacement filter do I need?

Does the Selfpress also filter viruses?

Ja, grundsätzlich kann der Selfpress auch zur Aufbereitung von Leitungswasser auf Reisen verwendet werden.
