“After initial difficulties pulling the filter unit out of the housing on the first attempt (I got help from my neighbor), I am now on a trip in a national park in Costa Rica, and the bottle is exactly what I need here! Single-use plastic bottles are prohibited in the parks! Refilling is now possible without any problems!”

“I am completely satisfied with the filter! It has already accompanied me through Finland and on some routes through Germany. Filtering is surprisingly easy, and the filtered water is definitely drinkable! However, a slight aquatic taste always remains; this is only really pungent in standing waters with a lot of algae and suspended solids.”

“The lettering was no longer nice after just one week of use (see photos). By now (2 weeks in Madeira) it is no longer visible at all. The bottle is also very prone to scratches and the "rubber" behind the lid has small cracks. I really expected more for the price. I only drank from sources 3 times and had no problems with the water. The purpose was at least fulfilled.”

Founding Story
Our founding story.
Grüezi. We're Jerome and Laurenz. We live in Zurich and we'd rather be outdoors than indoors.
In 2019, we spent four days trekking through Nepal. On the third day, we came across a glacier-fed stream, cloudy with sediment. Our straw filters from the outdoor shop clogged after just three sips.
We carried on, but one question stayed with us all the way home: why wasn't there an outdoor water filter that could mechanically remove bacteria in seconds, without chemicals or a pump?
There wasn't one. So we built it.
In 2022, the Selfpress went into production as the world's first press filter with a hollow fiber membrane. It removes 99.9999% of bacteria in under ten seconds, exceeding the NSF P231 standard.
But bacteria were only the beginning. Outside Europe, the challenge is different: viruses are too small for traditional hollow fiber membranes.
So we kept innovating. Today, the Squeeze and Straw also remove 99.999% of viruses. Three filters. One mission: safe drinking water from almost any water source.
