Why switch
A water filter is a consumable.
With every liter, the filter material becomes more clogged. This is intentional; it’s where everything that shouldn't be in your glass gets trapped. That's why each filter element has a capacity, and why there's a replacement indicator. Technically, an exhausted filter continues to operate, but with decreasing performance, and eventually, hardly any water passes through. For a product whose results you cannot see, timely replacement is the most cost-effective safety gain available.
- Changeover Signal SelfpressThe filtering process requires significantly more force than usual. This is not a defect.
- Alternating signal squeezeDespite cleaning and an intact bag, hardly any water is getting through.
- Capacity1,500 liters with Selfpress, up to 500 liters with Squeeze.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why change at all?
A water filter is a consumable: with every litre, the filter material becomes more clogged. This is intentional; it’s where everything you don't want in your glass gets trapped. That's why every filter element has a capacity, and why there's a change signal: more effort needed for the Selfpress, sluggish flow for the Squeeze.
Can I use the old filter for longer?
Technically it continues to run, but with decreasing performance, and eventually hardly any water passes through. For a product whose results you cannot see, timely replacement is the most cost-effective safety gain there is.
How do I know the filter needs changing?
With the Selfpress, remember that the filtering process requires significantly more force than usual. With the Squeeze, remember that despite cleaning and an intact bag, hardly any water passes through. The murkier the water you are filtering, the sooner this happens.
Which element fits my device?
For the Selfpress 500 ml: Replacement filter. For the Selfpress XL 800 ml: Replacement filter XL. For the Squeeze 500 ml and 1 liter: Squeeze replacement filter. There is no replacement filter element for the Straw.
How long does a filter element last?
The Selfpress filter element lasts for 1,500 liters, which is approximately 2,500 applications for the 500 ml Selfpress. The Squeeze filter element lasts for up to 500 liters, which is the maximum value under optimal conditions.
Is the bottle or the pouch included?
No. This is a replacement filter element, not a complete water filter. Bottle or pouch are not included.
How long can I store a filter as a spare?
When stored optimally, the Selfpress filter element has a shelf life of at least 2 years. While the hollow fiber membrane potentially has an almost unlimited shelf life, the activated carbon filter loses some of its effectiveness over time. The filter can still be used afterwards, but reduced filter performance must be expected.
Can I use soap or vinegar essence for cleaning?
No. Do not use soap or vinegar essence to clean the filter element. These can permanently damage the filter. Clean water is sufficient.
